Beauty Salon

Keep every chair, stylist, and client connection moving in sync

A beauty salon needs more than a checkout screen: it needs a live view of stylist availability, services, stations, client history, and the next opening. Square brings those pieces together with online booking, customizable calendars, reminders, client profiles, payments, and tools for rebooking and retention.

Built for your day-to-day

How it fits your business

A solo stylist can start at no monthly subscription cost, while a growing team can add cancellation protection, multi-staff appointments, waitlists, and marketing. Larger salons can add resource management and service-cost reporting. Use a countertop device at reception, a mobile reader on the floor, or a phone for contactless payments, then keep product sales and service payments in the same system.

Key capabilities

What you can do

  • Book services around real staff availability

Create a 24/7 booking site, assign services to specific stylists, color-code calendars, and let clients choose a location or preferred team member. Google Calendar sync can block personal events and help avoid double-booking.

  • Protect high-value appointment time

Square Plus and Premium support cancellation policies, no-show fees, card-on-file protection, prepayments, deposits, and waitlists. These controls are useful for color services, extensions, and other appointments that are difficult to refill at short notice.

  • Give every client a more informed follow-up

Customer profiles can keep contact details, booking history, notes, birthdays, documents, images, and files together. Square Messages, automated reminders, marketing campaigns, loyalty, and gift cards support rebooking and repeat visits.

  • Take payment at the front desk or chair

Square supports tap, chip, swipe, digital wallets, Cash App Pay, payment links, cards on file, and Afterpay. Tap to Pay on iPhone or Android can accept contactless payments with a compatible phone and no additional reader.

  • Track service performance and retail add-ons

Ring up services and products together, monitor sales in Dashboard, and use inventory tools for retail items such as hair products and nail polish. Premium adds future-bookings reporting, service-cost tracking, and resource management for rooms, chairs, or stations.

Setup and operating boundaries

The U.S. setup guide requires an active Square subscription, identity verification, a linked bank account, and at least one business location. Account owners perform setup, and bookings mode must be enabled in the Square Point of Sale app. Terminal requires internet through Wi-Fi or Ethernet; offline payments can continue for up to 24 hours, but transactions can be declined if the device is not reconnected in time and the seller bears responsibility for expired, declined, or disputed offline payments. Device financing is subject to credit approval and state and purchase restrictions.

U.S. published Square Appointments plans are Free at $0/month/location, Plus at $49/month/location, and Premium at $149/month/location. Square Pro is custom-priced for businesses processing over $250,000 per year subject to eligibility. A representative salon countertop option, Square Terminal, is $299 before tax; hardware financing terms are separate and subject to approval and stated restrictions.

Square Plus and Premium are priced per active location. Premium's 24/7 support, future-bookings report, service-cost tracking, and resource management are plan-specific features.

Square's published online rate is not the same as its in-person rate; the applicable channel and plan determine the fee.

Offline payments require reconnection within 24 hours of the first offline payment and place responsibility for expired, declined, or disputed offline transactions on the seller.

Hardware installment plans are subject to credit approval and other factors, are unavailable to merchants in AL, DE, MO, MS, NH, and TN, and may have purchase-amount and APR conditions stated by Square.

Afterpay eligibility criteria and possible late fees apply; Square's salon page does not establish universal approval for every salon or customer.

Square Checking, loans, and other financial products have separate eligibility, underwriting, and banking disclosures and are not required to use the salon booking and POS workflow.

No image is marked approved because no marketing-use license evidence was established from the official pages reviewed.
