Square Go

Put your beauty business in front of clients who are ready to book

Square Go is Square Appointments' U.S. marketplace for beauty and personal-care businesses. A qualified salon, barbershop, nail studio, med spa, tattoo or piercing shop, or similar provider can receive a free marketplace profile that helps local clients discover services, compare availability, and rebook.

Built for your day-to-day

How it fits your business

Your Square Appointments calendar, staff, services, prices, and availability remain the source of truth, so bookings from Square Go flow into the Square POS app with bookings mode enabled or the Square Appointments POS app. It is a discovery and booking channel, not a checkout terminal: Square says Square Go does not accept payments yet. Clients can use the iOS app; Android is not currently supported.

Key capabilities

What you can do

  • A free local discovery profile

Eligible U.S. beauty and personal-care businesses get a Square Go marketplace profile at no additional Square Go charge. Clients can search by location and beauty service, giving a neighborhood salon or independent provider another path to discovery.

  • Bookings stay on your existing calendar

Square Go uses the same Square Appointments services, prices, staff, and calendar availability. New bookings appear in the Square POS app with bookings mode enabled or in the Square Appointments POS app, so staff do not need a second scheduling system.

  • A practical rebooking loop

Clients can manage and rebook appointments through Square Go. Square describes recommendations based on businesses similar clients have visited; the marketplace can therefore support repeat visits as well as first-time discovery.

  • Profile controls built for service businesses

Owners can review the listing, add photos of the storefront, interior, services, staff, and write a business description. Square also documents controls for location information, cancellation policy, services, staff, and Google reviews.

  • Online booking can start with no hardware

Square's online-booking setup supports a simple booking site, a booking button, an embedded widget, or a link from an existing site or email. A business can publish booking access without buying a Square terminal first.

Eligibility and setup

For a free Square Go profile, Square requires a U.S.-based eligible beauty or personal-care business, online booking enabled, and at least one client booking in the last 30 days. Square's examples include beauty salons, hair salons, barbershops, nail salons, med spas, massage parlors, and tattoo or piercing parlors. Once online booking is on, the profile is live; the owner reviews it from Dashboard > Online Booking > Channels > Square Go, adds photos and descriptions, and checks services, staff, location details, cancellation policy, and optional Google review settings.

Plans, fees, and payment boundary

Square Go itself is free for businesses and clients, but the underlying booking capability requires Square Appointments Free, Plus, or Premium, or a Square Free/Plus/Premium plan with advanced bookings capabilities. Square's current U.S. pricing pages show $0 per location/month for Free, $49 per location/month for Plus, and $149 per location/month for Premium; plan features and rates can change. Square Go does not accept payments. If the business enables prepayment or takes payment through the booking flow, Square's Appointments pricing page lists plan-dependent online card rates of 3.3% + 30¢ for Free, 2.9% + 30¢ for Plus, and 2.9% + 30¢ for Premium; manual entry or card-on-file is listed at 3.5% + 15¢ across those plans. These are payment-processing charges, not Square Go listing fees.

Compatibility and meaningful limitations

The seller side is managed through Square Dashboard and the Square POS app with bookings mode enabled or Square Appointments POS app; Square documents online booking through its web and POS workflows. Clients currently use the Square Go iOS app, and Square says Android is not yet available. Square Go is limited to eligible beauty and personal-care businesses in the U.S.; an ineligible business will not see the feature. A listing can be opted out, but existing clients can still manage bookings while new clients stop discovering the location. Square Go is not a payment-acceptance channel, so checkout, deposits, prepayments, or cancellation charges must be configured through Square Appointments/payment processing instead.

Square Go marketplace access is free for eligible U.S. businesses and clients. It requires Square Appointments Free, Plus, or Premium (or a Square plan with advanced bookings capabilities). Current U.S. pricing lists Free at $0/location/month, Plus at $49/location/month, and Premium at $149/location/month. Square Go itself does not accept payments; payment-processing fees apply only when the business uses Square's supported booking/payment flows.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Square Go free?

Yes. Square says Square Go is free for businesses and clients. A business still needs eligible Square Appointments or a Square plan with advanced bookings capabilities, and any separate subscription or payment-processing charges for those services remain applicable.

Can a salon or barbershop join Square Go without changing its booking system?

Yes, if it is an eligible U.S. beauty or personal-care business with online booking enabled. Square Go uses the Square Appointments calendar, services, prices, staff, and availability, and bookings appear in the Square POS app with bookings mode enabled or the Square Appointments POS app.

Do Square Go clients pay inside the app, and does it work on Android?

Not currently. Square says Square Go does not accept payments yet, and the client app is currently available on iOS rather than Android. Use Square Appointments' supported prepayment, deposit, or payment-processing features separately when appropriate.
