A business-ready network for every Square station

Keep checkout, printers, kitchen screens, and staff devices connected with commercial-grade UniFi networking equipment sold through Square in the U.S. Square’s networking range includes a $599 Quick Service Restaurant kit and a $1,449 Full Service Restaurant kit, each with a gateway, PoE switch, two Wi-Fi 6 access points, and Ethernet cables.

Built for your day-to-day

How it fits your business

The right setup depends on your floor plan, walls, device count, and internet service—not just the number of registers. Use wired Ethernet for fixed equipment where practical, plan access-point placement before mounting, and treat installation as a real network project. Square provides a detailed setup guide, while complex deployments may warrant an IT professional or eligible professional installer.

Key capabilities

What you can do

  • Pre-vetted components for Square operations

The Square Shop offers UniFi gateways, PoE switches, Wi-Fi 6 access points, and Ethernet cabling in restaurant-oriented kits, reducing the need to assemble a network from unrelated parts.

  • Separate busy devices from guest traffic

UniFi equipment can support practical network controls such as segmentation and bandwidth limits. That helps prioritize payments, printing, ordering, and kitchen traffic when a restaurant also offers guest Wi-Fi.

  • Coverage designed around the room

Square’s planning baseline is about 1,000 square feet per recommended U6+ access point in a square or rectangular single-floor space with drywall. L-shaped layouts, brick or concrete, and dense device environments can require more access points.

  • Room to scale a connected operation

The Quick Service kit uses a 16-port PoE switch; the Full Service kit uses a 24-port Layer 3 switch with high-power PoE++ capability. That gives a growing restaurant more wired expansion capacity for POS and operational devices, subject to the actual network design.

  • A documented setup path

Square’s U.S. guide covers modem and ISP preparation, gateway setup in the UniFi app, hardwiring the switch and access points, Wi-Fi configuration, and testing. It also identifies when a professional network or IT installer may be appropriate.

Choose the kit by operating footprint

The $599 Networking Kit for Quick Service Restaurant includes a UniFi UCG Ultra gateway, USW Lite 16 PoE switch, two U6+ indoor access points, mounting hardware, and specified Cat6 patch cables. The $1,449 Networking Kit for Full Service Restaurant includes a Dream Machine SE gateway, USW Pro 24 PoE switch, two U6+ indoor access points, mounting hardware, and specified patch cables. Either kit can add an outdoor access point for $179. These are network foundations, not a promise that the included two access points fit every building.

Installation and connectivity requirements

Square says a reliable ISP connection and modem are prerequisites, with at least 25 Mbps down and 3 Mbps up required for Square to work well; 100 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up are preferred, depending on device count and site complexity. Access points generally need dedicated Cat5e-or-better Ethernet runs and PoE from the switch or a compatible injector. Keep networking equipment ventilated, route and label cables, and place access points away from radio-frequency interference such as microwaves, espresso grinders, speakers, and lights.

Continuity planning and limits

Square recommends Ethernet over Wi-Fi for fixed equipment where possible, commercial-grade gear, a backup connection, and offline-payment preparation. Offline payments are not a substitute for a working network: Square states that offline transactions are declined if the device is not reconnected within 24 hours of the first offline payment, and the seller remains responsible for expired, declined, or disputed offline payments. Square’s professional-installer option is not stated as universally available; the official guidance says to ask a Sales representative whether a site assessment and installation are eligible.

Square U.S. currently lists two networking kits: $599.00 one-time for the Quick Service Restaurant kit or $1,449.00 one-time for the Full Service Restaurant kit. Either product page offers an optional outdoor access point for an additional $179.00. Monthly figures shown by Square are financing installments, not a networking subscription: $55.00/mo for the QSR kit and $71.00/mo for the FSR kit, subject to credit-sale qualifications. Square’s official materials do not state a recurring UniFi license fee for these kits.

Requirements

  • A reliable U.S. internet service and modem; Square states at least 25 Mbps down and 3 Mbps up is required for Square to work well, with 100 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up preferred depending on the site.
  • Correctly sized Ethernet runs, access-point placement, power, and ventilation; access points generally need Cat5e-or-better Ethernet and PoE or a compatible injector.
  • A Square account and compatible Square hardware/software; the network kit itself does not replace a POS device or POS subscription.
  • Financing requires merchant sign-in, credit approval, and other stated Block, Inc. qualifications.

This record covers the U.S. Square networking accessory category and the two officially linked restaurant networking kits; availability and price can change after the verification date.

Square’s published coverage estimate is not a guarantee. Building materials, floor shape, interference, device density, and wired runs can change the required number and placement of access points.

Square’s setup guide says complex deployments may take at least a day and may require an IT professional. Professional site assessment and installation are eligibility-dependent and must be confirmed with Square Sales.

Square’s U.S. network guidance recommends a third-party networking specialist when needs are not represented by its examples; Square does not present the kits as a universal design for every business.

The listed UniFi equipment carries a two-year limited warranty according to the kit pages; warranty terms are governed by the linked manufacturer policy.

No recurring networking software or UniFi license fee was stated in the official Square pages reviewed. Do not treat that absence as a promise that third-party ISP, installation, electrical, or support costs are free.

Payment-processing rates and Square plan fees are separate from networking hardware. This record does not attribute a processing rate to the networking accessory itself.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Square hardware or a Square subscription to use the networking kits?

The kits are designed to connect Square hardware and services, but the networking kit is not a POS system and does not itself supply POS software. Square’s official networking pages do not state a separate networking subscription requirement. A business still needs its Square account, compatible POS hardware/software, internet service, and any applicable Square plan fees.

Which networking kit is right for my restaurant?

Square positions the $599 kit for quick-service restaurant operations and the $1,449 kit for full-service restaurant operations. Treat those labels as starting points rather than an automatic sizing rule: confirm square footage, walls, access-point locations, Ethernet runs, device count, and future expansion before ordering.

Will the included two access points cover my entire store?

Not necessarily. Square’s baseline is roughly 1,000 square feet per U6+ access point in a square or rectangular single-floor space with drywall. L- or H-shaped spaces, brick or concrete, crowded radio environments, and many POS or guest devices can require additional access points and a different design.
